Hi.  Karen here.   good news about LFC!  We've been listed as a link at the Organic Consumers Association site.  I really like their site.  It includes a forum for the state of Ohio.  Please check out both sites and leave some comments that pertain to them as a region.  Keep it simple.  Let's get some initiatives happening.  Currently, I'm working on what the production capacity of metro areas would be.  And the effects on established retail and wholesale outlets in competition with local farmers who are expanding into the local market.  Any thoughts on this subject.  MORPSE has a new person who is touching on this issue.  One idea is to survey  local market/ meat processors and their  probable expansion and/or at capacity use.  There's only one or two per county surrounding Columbus.  Maybe a hundred or so statewide.  The lack of these facilities prevents more local farmers from entering the market and sell at new farm markets being opened around the city.  I've been unable to get any feedback from Megan or Steve B via phone concerning the MPU for chickens.  I've talked to chicken packaging companies who are also interested in updates on this.  Has anyone surveyed the produce wholesalers about representing more local farms on a county by county basis?  What economy of scale is needed for a farmer to market to these outlets.  Would there be work and support for more migrant workers to be hired in Central Ohio, such as what happens in Northern Ohio?  Would people speak at city council on behalf of lowering the restrictions on raising chickens and goats on the scale that is happening in Cleveland and Flint Mi.  (See current articles on LFColumbus and LFcleveland.)  I'll stop here.  Looking forward to hearing from you.  Kareng
