 Friday, February 27, 2009, 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Our speaker this month will be Dave Beck, President of the Center for Innovative Food Technology (CIFT).  Located in Toledo, CIFT is one of Ohio's Thomas Edison Technology Centers, whose mission is to support the economic viability of the Ohio's agricultural and food processing.  CIFT manages programs in a wide variety of areas, including biofuels, waste-to-energy, "green" materials, value added production, minimal processing of specialty crops, functional food product development, and many others.  CIFT supplements its staff of engineering, technical, scientific, and business experts with a large network of academic and technical partners to offer solutions to technical and business problems, and to identify opportunities to improve performance. Dave will speak on the CIFT program and its components, and will focus on several new initiatives, including:   Innovative growing systems, new processing technologies, cooperative processing and freezing projects, and urban agricultural systems.
