Northeast Ohio Agribusiness Breakfast

The Northeast Ohio Agribusiness Issues Forum presents “More Than a Milk Check- DFA’s Role in Today’s Dairy Industry," Presented by Heather Schofield, Dairy Farmers of America -- Friday, October 23, 2009, 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.

Dairy Farmers of America’s (DFA) 2,000 Mideast Area members ship about 1.5 million gallons of milk daily to plants in Ohio and surrounding states. These members  rely on their marketing cooperative for help to make that job easier. In addition to providing a guaranteed market for their members milk production, DFA services have expanded to include health insurance, retirement planning, farm supplies, financing, political action, risk management and quality improvement services. Heather will introduce you to those services, the cooperative, and DFA’s recent efforts to provide short term relief and long term strategies for avoiding wild price swings in the future. Heather has been with Dairy Farmers of America since 1998 and currently serves as Communications Manager. She was raised on a dairy farm, graduated from OSU and spent six years in farm broadcasting at WRFD—AM 880, Ohio Farm Radio.
