Recommended Reading for the Ohio Food Policy Council: Food Policy Focused Special Issue of JHEN
The most recent issue of the Journal of Hunger & Environmental Nutrition is devoted to a series of papers that resulted from a conference last spring entitled: Food Systems and Public Health: Linkages to Achieve Healthier Diets and Healthier Communities.
Several of the papers in this special issue are focused on food policy issues. I'd encourage you to have a look, the entire edition is available for free download on the web (click or paste the following into your browser: http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/title~db=all~content=g917718511~tab=toc).
I attended the conference with an interesting mix of experts in agriculture, nutrition, medicine, and public health, and would be glad to field questions or help put you in contact with other participants.
Regards, Casey

The speakers did a nice job of framing the issues on food and health that were addressed at the conference in Airlie, VA, last spring, and also provided links to a number of other resources on the web and elsewhere regarding food systems and food policy.
